Bodhran My interpretation of the Irish Classic. Though these are mostly made with goat hide around the world today, I've found that deer hide is not only a delightful sound, but actually pre-dates goat as the hide of choice by centuries. Thus, unless requested in goat hide, these delightful drums are all deer hide laid over a maple ply frame. |

Stringerless The cross bar "handle" was originally just to keep the shell from warping under the stresses of the head. With today's plywood shells, this is no longer necessary, opening up a world of possibilities for play. Avaialble in natural (shown) or "rosewood" with various trim levels. |

Tar - 18" x 2 3/4" This variation on the Midlle Eastern classic is actually an odd cross with the Irish Bodhran. Excellent starter piece as it's very lightweight (for dancing) and playable in multiple styles. Avaialable in both goat and deer. Goat is a lighter sound with more ring, deer is a little deeper and heavier. Natural finish. |
